Periods 6 & 7, Post 8: Neglected Pecola

Hey, all. I hope you all had a nice week. It definitely was much calmer, after the craziness of the past two!!

This week, in class, we've focused on the addition of Pecola, a foster child, to Claudia's and Frieda's family. For this week's blog post, I'd like you to practice inferencing by focusing on Pecola's final line of the chapter: "How do you get someone to love you?" Using the context of the line (the scene in which it appears), what do you think this line means? Give two (2) textual examples from what we've read so far to support your answer.

Your response will count as a homework assignment for the second marking period.

  1. by john rivera i think the line "How do you get someone to love you" means if you like someone how do you get them to like you. One example is when she was ministratin mama came and help her.Anther way is when they took her in.

I think the line "How do you get someone to love you" is the way to introduce LOVE to the characters.. And I also think that this ia way that the aurthor shows us how innocent Pecola is.

The line "How do you get someone to love you?" means exactly what she's asking. the girl feels unwanted and just wants some care and affection she was raped and just needs some closure.

Im assuming that the line "How do you get someone to love you?" means if your really like someone, how do you get them to feel the same about you.
