Periods 6 & 7, Post 5: Life in a Small Town

Hey, everyone!!

We've begun reading Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, and one of the first things we have noticed is how prominently Maycomb County figures into the life of the Finch family. Think about this particular setting, in a small, Southern town; what might be some of the benefits of small-town life? What might be some of the drawbacks?

Your comments will count as a homework assignment for the second marking period of the spring semester.

Some benefits of living in a small town would be that there would be no strangers. Everyone would have each other back throughout everything. Some drawbacks would be that you would feel crowded.

  2. some benefits in a small town is that its not alot of people and it wont be alot of troble. Some drawbacks is that they might not have everything they need in a small town so that calls for them to have to travel alot. Thomas Joseph

  3. The benifits of living in a small town would be that everyone knows eachother and if something bad were to happen someone may have a clue as to who did what because everyone is so well known. Some drawbacks would be that since everyone communicates,it would be difficult to keep someone out of your business. -Nataijah Sanchez

Some of the benefits of living in a small-town it will be easier to interact with others and you will know alot of people, but their are some drawbacks such as you run out of things to do pretty quick, especially once you hit young adulthood.

I think some benefits of living in a small town is knowing everyone, so it's very "homey". Which can also be a(n) drawback, because everyone will know everyone's business. Which is where privacy comes into play.. There wouldn't/won't be any.

Small Town = Fresh Air, Relaxing, lots of green space, plenty of parks to enjoy with the children, and peace and quiet. Instantly you feel yourself beginning to relax. The frown lines begin to disappear from your face. Suddenly it feels like all your burdens are gone.
